Dr. Karl Kling, Pastor

dsc_0032Pastor Karl Kling began serving at First Presbyterian Church, Bainbridge on September 16th, 2016.  He has served churches in Sarasota Florida, Lancaster Pennsylvania, Oklahoma City, and Birmingham Alabama.  He is a graduate of Austin Seminary (Texas), Fuller Seminary (Los Angeles) and the Wharton Business School(Philadelphia).  The heart of his ministry is sharing with church members, friends, neighbors, and community members the good news that Jesus Christ offers in everyday life.  In addition to his preaching ministry, each week Pastor Karl presents a brief, inspiring message of hope during the 10:30am worship service titled “90 Seconds of Good News.”


While serving as a pastor in Oklahoma City, Pastor Karl also had a practice in Marriage and Family Therapy and Pastoral Counseling.  Another focus of his ministry is helping individuals, couples, families, and congregations to grow in faith during every stage of life.  Pastor Karl is an avid fan of all high school and college sports.


Pastor Karl is married to Susan Kling, a public health nutritionist who has worked in hospital, clinic, and public health settings.  While living in Sarasota, she worked with the Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) program that serves low-income families.  Susan teaches adult Bible Studies, enjoys singing in the church choir, and is active in many other areas of church life.  The Klings are parents of  two adult sons.  David and his wife Alison are both ordained Presbyterian pastors serving in Huntsville, Alabama.  Michael and Samantha Kling live in St. Petersburg, Florida where  Michael works as an electrical engineer and Samantha teaches Kindergarten.  Samantha plays the violin and Michael plays the bass guitar in a praise band for a church in the St. Pete area.
